Sitcoms weren’t the only medium that graced our TV screen back in the 60s and 70s. Dramas, game shows, and even soap operas were becoming hugely popular. A recent post on Squidoo.com remembers the gameshow Password:

Password was a fun show from the 60s, which featured many celebrities who were popular at the time. (Host Allen Ludden) was married to Betty White, who became very well known first on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and later on Golden Girls. They were very happily married until Allens’ death.

Today, it is ironic to think that Betty White (who turned 90 in January), first became well known on one of the first shows ever to have a single successful woman as the lead character. Perhaps some of her continued enthusiasm and dedicated work ethic is a result of her roots in The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

In all of the Monkees songs that the public was assaulted with, we heard Davy Jones’ voice making us realize that we didn’t need a lot to be happy, and that a person believing in a dream could also have a shot at the homecoming queen:
